Spartan chemists named among world's top researchers
Several Department of Chemistry faculty members were included in the in this year's "World’s Top 2% Scientists" -- a distinguished list compiled by researchers at Stanford University and Elsevier.
Using non-self-cited citation metrics to assess the influence of published research across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, this recognition identifies scientists whose work has had the most significant career-long and single-year impact in their respective research communities.
"The inclusion of so many faculty members is a powerful testament to the caliber of research being conducted here at MSU Chemistry," said Sean Liddick, professor and interim chair.
"Their work not only advances the fundamental boundaries of chemical science, but achieves the daily breakthroughs needed to reshape technology, education, and innovation."
Six faculty members were recognized for their single year contributions:
- James McCusker, MSU Research Foundation Professor
- Melanie Cooper, Lappan-Phillips Professor of Science Education
- Thomas Hamann, professor, James L. Dye Endowed Chair
- Greg Swain, professor
- Xuefei Huang, MSU Research Foundation Professor
- Selvan Demir, assistant professor
While a total of nine Spartans were named in the career-long rankings:
