- Undergraduate academic information
- Chemistry area interests (up to 3) and MSU Chemistry faculty (up to 3) with whom you would like to meet during a visit.
- Names and information for 2 letters of reference—no actual letters are needed, but you should ask the people you list if they are willing to serve as letter writers in the future, and part of the workshop will focus on what makes a helpful letter for your graduate applications.
- File upload of your undergraduate transcript (PDF format).
- File upload of your CV or résumé (PDF format).
- File upload of your personal statement. This document should include your responses to the following prompts:

- What motivates you to pursue a doctoral degree in chemistry? What type(s) of research problems do you hope to work on during your Ph.D. training? What do you hope for in a career path that you will pursue after obtaining a doctoral degree in chemistry? (500 words max)
- Please provide a summary of 1–2 favorite research problem(s) that you have worked on and your contributions to addressing the problem(s). (500 words max)
- Please tell us about 1–2 challenges (scientific or otherwise) that you have faced, or that you think the field of chemistry faces, and what you think could help address/has helped address the challenge(s). (250 words max)
- How do you hope to benefit from participating in the GROWChem@MSU program? Do you have specific goals or questions that you would like us to address? (250 words max)
Formatting guidelines for personal statement:
