Edgar Fahs Smith
1854-1928
Smith did research on electrochemical methods of analysis, atomic weight determinations, complex inorganic acids, and the rare earths. He is best known, however, as a chemical educator and textbook writer, and for his intense interest in the history of chemistry. His collection of portraits, letters and other chemical memorabilia at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was professor for many years, is internationally renowned.
