Christie Enke

Upon leaving MSU in 1994, Chris took a position at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he worked until 2006. He is now Emeritus from both MSU and UNM. He remains professionally active through a collaboration with the Hieftje lab at Indiana University where a prototype distance-of-flight mass spectrometer based on Chris’ theoretical work has been constructed. He is also working to develop a theory of complex mixtures, modeling the burgeoning developments in what is now called comprehensive analysis. His work is based on his discovery that the distribution of concentrations in a natural complex mixture is often lognormal. Such modeling can indicate the fraction of the compounds not detected and their concentrations as well as the instrumental qualities required to go deeper into the sample.
