MSU Foundation Prof. Xuefei Huang's recent study highlighted as Cover Article in ACS Central Science

MSU Foundation Prof. Xuefei Huang’s recent study highlighted as Cover Article in ACS Central Science

In this work, Chemistry Prof. Xuefei Huang and his co-workers have synthesized the longest chondroitin sulfate polysaccharide (24-mer) to date. In collaboration with Dr. Narayanan Parameswaran from the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, they demonstrated that this novel synthetic compound was able to reduce inflammatory activities of macrophages, and provide important insights into the mode of action of a therapeutic protein, bikunin, used to treat acute inflammatory diseases.
