Sun Lab organizes first-ever summer school for capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry

The Sun lab at the Department of Chemistry of Michigan State University has successfully organized the first-ever Summer School for Capillary Electrophoresis-Mass Spectrometry (CE-MS) from July 22 to 24, 2024. The summer school focused on experimental training for researchers who are interested in using CE-MS for biomedical applications. Five graduate students from four universities (The Ohio State University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Northeastern University, and University of Alabama) joined the summer school. The students learned how to make capillary coatings (i.e., linear polyacrylamide, LPA) for CE-MS, practiced CE-MS setup for proteomics applications, and validated LPA-coated capillaries made themselves for CE-MS analysis of intact proteins. The summer school is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the grant DBI1846913 (CAREER Award, Sun).

Special thanks to Dr. Guijie Zhu, Jorge Colonrosado, and Reyhane T. Nimavard (Bahar) in the Sun lab for their hard work organizing the summer school. We are excited about the success of this summer school and look forward to organizing another one in the summer of 2025. If you are interested in participating in 2025, please stay tuned for announcements and application details. Feel free to contact Drs. Guijie Zhu (zhuguiji@msu.edu) and Liangliang Sun (lsun@msu.edu) for more details about the summer school.
