​Thomas Hamann is the inaugural James Dye Professor of Materials Chemistry at Michigan State University. After completing his graduate work with Nate Lewis at Caltech in 2006, Tom joined Joseph Hupp’s group as a postdoc at Northwestern University. In 2008, Tom started his independent academic career at Michigan State University. His research interests include the synthesis of mesoscopic materials and investigation of interfacial electron-transfer and photocatalytic reactions at semiconductor surfaces. He was the recipient of a DOE early career research award, a NSF CAREER award, a Sloan Fellowship and the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award.
