Our lab is interested in the effects of the endogenous metabolites of dietary omega-6 and omega-3 lipids on human physiology and, their underlying mechanisms. Furthermore, we are interested in developing novel compounds to treat diseases through modulating the metabolism of these lipids. These developed compounds may have broad applications to many diseases especially useful in preventing/ treating cancer, as well as neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. Our laboratory implores a multidisciplinary approach; utilizing organic synthesis, state-of-the-art analytical tools, computational modeling, and novel biological models to test our hypotheses. Through these investigations, we hope to improve dietary recommendations for omega-6 and omega-3 lipids, and develop novel therapies for diseases that are difficult to treat.
