A recent paper in J. Chem. Ed. in August of 2019 by Prof. Melanie Cooper and colleagues has been chosen for highlighting as Editor’s Choice.

Their article describes the philosophy and structure of a new method of teaching undergraduate Organic Chemistry that includes using the framework of three-dimensional learning to support knowledge in use and emphasizing biologically important mechanisms. Topics are connected to core ideas by using scientific practices, such as constructing models and explanations, analyzing and interpreting data, and emphasizing causal mechanistic reasoning.
