Professors Borhan and Geiger's work relating to the tuning of the absorption properties of all-trans-retinal in a protein environment, showing that electrostatic interactions comprise the primary tuning mechanism, has appeared in the December 7, 2012 issue of Science. The work was accompanied by a Perspective by Dr. Thomas P. Sakmar of the Laboratory of Chemical Biology and Signal Transduction of The Rockefeller University in New York and has been highlighted as a News of the Week in the December 10, 2012 issue of Chemical and Engineering News. Congratulations to all of those involved in this exciting research!
