Outreach

There are many opportunities for students to get involved in science outreach in addition to the Chemistry Club and NOBCChE activities.

MSU Chemistry students, faculty and staff are directly involved with:

The Sights and Sounds of Chemistry is a series of grade appropriate demonstrations offered by the MSU Department of Chemistry. These demonstrations are organized by Mr. Sheldon Knoespel, Chemical Demonstrator, and are generally done by him with assistance of several graduate and undergraduate students.

Great Lakes College Chemistry Conference (GLCCC)

Science Theatre is a nationally-acclaimed MSU student-run organization that teaches students from a number of disciplines to perform science demonstrations and lectures for K-12 and public groups. Their shows are great, and the experience gained by the Science Theatre participants is even greater! Try it!

The Michigan Science Olympiad competition is held annually on the MSU campus. Volunteers are always needed, so if you are looking for a one-day commitment of fun and responsibility, this is for you.

CHEMISTRY DAY at Impression 5 Science Center is an activity hosted by the MSU Local Section of the ACS to celebrate National Chemistry Week.

Young Spartans Program is a community-based partnership between MSU, the Lansing School District, and the Lansing community, which promotes academic and career awareness, learning experiences between adults and children, community service opportunities, and and professional and parental support.

National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) brochure and homepage describe the NSF-led event.
