MTR Resources		Welcome to the Max T. Roger's NMR Facility Sign-up guidelines page. The facility is available for use to all faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students. The high demand for instrument time for both short-term and long-term experiments requires that specific time slots be available for users. The purpose of these rules is to ensure that the instruments are accessible for all users. Below you will find the rules for all instruments.

	Sign-up Rules	General Sign-up Rules for All Instruments:
	Handouts	A user may have only one outstanding reservation on a given instrument. However, users may have outstanding reservations on multiple instruments as long as there is only one per instrument and a user may have up to four reservations on the Unity+-500 (Mut). Users must make reservations using their own account. Reservations using other accounts including accounts from other members of the same group is not appropriate. If a user reserves an overnight time slot, that user is responsible for properly exiting their session (i.e. removing their sample, logging-off, etc.). If performing an experiment at temperatures other than ambient, ample time must be allowed for the probe to equilibrate to room temperature prior to the next user's time slot.

Specific Rules for Each Instrument:

Unity+-500 (Mut, room B-8)

Reserved time is available in the following categories:

1. Short Block Time: These time slots are available in 15 minute increments. Users may string two slots together to make a maximum 30 minute slot. Users may only reserve these slots 2 hours in advance.
2. Medium Block Time: These time slots are available in 1 hour increments. Users may put three slots together to make a maximum 3 hour slot. Users may only reserve these slots no more than 1 day in advance. If these slots are unreserved 24 hours in advance, they may be reserved as Short Block Times.
3. Long Block Time: These time slots are available up to 20-hour slots. These times may be reserved up to a week in advance. If these slots are unreserved 24 hours in advance, they may be reserved as Short Block Times.
4. 24 Hour Time Block: These time blocks are available Monday-Sunday and will supersede other scheduling blocks if reserved at least 72 hours beforehand. These slots may be reserved up to 8 weeks in advance.
5. A user may have up to four outstanding reservations.

Unity+-500 (Mut) Sign-up Rules

UnityPlus-500 (Anubis, room B-7)

Reserved time is available in the following categories:

1. Short Block Time: These time slots are available in 15 minute increments. Users may string two slots together to make a maximum 30 minute slot. Users may only reserve these slots 2 hours in advance.
2. Medium Block Time: These time slots are available in 1 hour increments. Users may put three slots together to make a maximum 3 hour slot. Users may only reserve these slots no more than 3 days (72 hours) in advance. If these slots are unreserved 24 hours in advance, they may be reserved as Short Block Times.
3. Long Block Time: These time slots are available in 9, 12, or 16 hour slots. These times may be reserved up to a week in advance. If these slots are unreserved 24 hours in advance, they may be reserved as Short Block Times.
4. A user may only have one outstanding reservation in each of the three time categories.

 

UnityPlus-500 (room B-7) Sign-up Rules

These instruments are reserved for Undergraduate Students for use from Monday through Thursday. Graduate Students are welcome to use these instruments at all other times with no time restrictions. Please reserve time using Online Reserve. For your convenience, the schedule for Undergraduate use is listed below:

Gemini-300 (Hathor): Room 538

This is a walk-up instrument. You may sign-up for time on the sheets located next to the spectrometer in room 538. The rules for this instrument are:

• From 7:00AM to 12 Midnight:
  • You may sign up for 1 ten-minute time slot no more than two hours ahead.
  • You may have only one slot reserved ahead.
  • After midnight, you may sign up for up to two consecutive one-hour blocks.

Inova-600 (Isis): Room B-7

This instrument is typically used for protein structural determination, which require multiple day acquisitions. As a result, this instrument is reserved for weeks at a time. If the instrument is available, it may be scheduled for short acquisition experiments. Please contact Kermit Johnson at 386 for all scheduling issues.
