For these images, all of the lights in the outer rooms of the Annex were turned on. Since the Annex was designed to be energy conservative, the lights in all of the rooms are controlled by detectors that sense whether there is any occupants. To have the light on long enough to take these images, we had to have one person on each floor that ran around entering each room to trigger the detectors. Less there be a hue and cry about wasting energy for the sake of art, the whole process, and hence the interval the lights were on, only lasted 20 minutes.
