Making a virtual private network (VPN) connection to Chemistry from outside the building will allow you to do operations, e.g. connect to shares, print on printers, use MSU Library data bases, as if you were in the building.
(These instructions work for later versions of MAC OS X.)
1. Open Finder and select Internet Connections within the Applications folder.
2. Click "VPN(PPTP"). Then enter "vpn.chemistry.msu.edu" for the server name. Enter your MS Windows Chemistry Domain username and password. Then click "Connect" :
In a short while, the window should appear as below signifying that your connection is complete.
