Queues and Interactive Jobs

Editors, compilers, and other programs that take very little CPU time may be run interactively. However, all jobs that require more than a few seconds of CPU time should be submitted to the queue system. The one exception to this is theory groups that are working on large software development projects. After getting approval, these users may run their development codes interactively. It is expected that they will keep in mind the reasonable limits of the machine so as not to overload it.
