A note from the Glassblowing Lab.

Mat Puskar has been employed as a Student Employee in the Glassblowing Lab
for four and a half years. This year Mat has been nominated for “MSU Student
Employee of the Year”.
A reception for all the nominee’s will be held at the Kellogg Center, Thursday
April 17th at 4:00 P.M. Refreshments will be served.
Mat has been a great asset for the Department. Please join me in showing your

Jeffrey R. Gour, a graduate student in Professor Piotr Piecuch’s group, received an Outstanding Student Poster Award from the Physical Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society. The award was presented to Jeff at the 235th National ACS Meeting in New Orleans, LA, April 6-10, 2008.

Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois

Position:                               Nine-month temporary faculty position in the Department of Chemistry.

Responsibilities:                 Teaching lecture and laboratory courses in general chemistry and general education chemistry, with the possibility of teaching advanced courses in area of specialty.

Qualifications:                    Ph.D. in chemistry or related field and teaching experience preferred; MS degree in chemistry or related field and evidence of commitment to teaching excellence required.

Starting Date:                      August 16, 2008

 The 12th GLCACS Annual Conference is coming up at the University of Chicago on May 10th, 2008.   All graduate students, post-doc fellows and researchers in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Material Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and all other related areas are invited to present your researches.

GLCACS aims at facilitating communication and career development for all researchers in chemistry-related fields. Every year, GLCACS invites VPs from major chemistry, bio-pharmaceutical and energy companies and professors from prestigious universities to give speeches addressing current issues. They also gather researchers from more than ten universities to exchange ideas in the Poster Session and to compete for a total of $600 cash award.
